Episode 1

The drama begins with a cheery, full-of-life but materialistic girl Anum who studies at an expensive university and has elite-class friends. Although she belongs to a middle-class family, she portrays herself as a rich girl to blend in with her circle. Her father, Shakir works an ordinary job and her mother, Rahat works as a freelance tailor to accumulate funds to pay for their daughters’ education. Maham is Anum’s younger sister who is a compassionate and wise girl, completely opposite to Anum. Shagufta is Shakir’s widowed sister-in-law who runs an illegitimate business on an interest basis, exploiting helpless people. Shakir has severed all his ties with her due to her soiled reputation in the neighborhood. It turns out that she was accused of murdering her friend for which she spent a few days behind bars. Her son, Naveed likes Anum and insists his mother take his proposal for her.

Episode 2

Air Date: 10-Sep-2022

Shagufta arrives at Shakir’s house bearing sweets for her son’s proposal. Shakir straightaway rejects it, bashing her for defaming his family’s name. This affects her severely and she falls sick due to hypertension. Faraz is a talented and capable boy who shifts from village to city to start his professional career. He rents a portion in the same neighborhood where Anum resides. His paths cross with Anum but she harshly brushes him off every time, considering him an average middle-class guy. To buy an expensive gift for her friend’s birthday, Anum creates a spectacle in the house to retrieve money from her father. Shakir feels helpless and holds himself responsible for keeping his daughters deprived. Compelled, he borrows money from his friend so he can fulfill Anum’s wishes. Anum’s friend, Amber from her neighborhood loves a boy and keeps meeting him secretly. Anum feels exasperated by constantly covering up for her.

Episode 3

Air Date: 17-Sep-2022

Faraz starts falling for Anum and confesses his love to her. Rahat loses her cool when she sees the gifts Anum shopped for her friend’s birthday. It turns out that Anum borrowed money from Amber to keep her secret safe when Amber told her that she is eloping with her boyfriend. Shakir meets Faraz in the neighborhood and invites him over for tea. Anum is displeased to see him and tries her best to make him feel unwelcome. While enjoying her friend’s birthday party, she receives a call from Amber’s mother Rihana, asking her about Amber’s whereabouts. Scared, Anum rushes home only to find Rihana creating a spectacle at her house and blaming her for hiding Amber. Anum hesitantly reveals the truth that Amber went to see her lover secretly. This infuriates Rihana and she gets Anum arrested for being equally involved with her daughter. Shagufta finds solace when she hears the news of Anum’s arrest. To tarnish Shakir’s pride, she decides to get Anum released on bail with her “illegitimate money.”

Episode 4

Air Date: 24-Sep-2022

Shagufta shows up at Shakir’s house to add insult to injury. Shakir’s mother kicks her out of the house, turning down her offer to get Anum released on bail. Amber arrives at the police station with her newly married husband, clarifying Anum’s name and requesting the officer to release her. When Anum returns home, Rahat bursts onto her for defaming the family’s name. Guilty, Anum begs her father to forgive her but he refuses to speak to her. Shagufta gets enraged when Naveed informs her that Anum got bail without the help of their money. She keeps mistreating innocent and helpless people, earning their curses. Rahat asks Maham to keep an eye on Anum’s every action and keep her updated. Faraz fights with every individual in the neighborhood who tries to gossip about Anum’s actions. After careful consideration, Shakir restricts Anum and Maham from continuing their studies to keep them out of all sorts of troubles.

Episode 5

Air Date: 01-Oct-2022

Anum protests against her father’s decision and refuses to discontinue her studies. Seeing her rebellious behavior, Maham suggests her mother marry Anum. Despite Shakir’s decision, Anum goes to the university. However, she falls from a bus and ends up hurting her knee. Faraz’s landlord, Zafar, helps drop her home and later informs Shakir about the incident. Shakir feels humiliated and worthless after realizing that Anum disobeyed him. He decides it is wise to marry her as soon as possible. When Anum finds out about his decision, she starts yelling at her father, refusing to marry. Shakir fears that Anum might follow in the footsteps of her friend and escape from the house. Bewildered, he experiences a heart attack and Faraz rushes him to the hospital. Shagufta’s immorality lands her in huge trouble when she exploits a helpless family by robbing them of their heirloom jewelry.

Episode 6

Air Date: 08-Oct-2022

Anum feels remorseful for her actions and apologizes to her father when he returns home from the hospital. Seeing Shakir bewildered about Anum’s marriage, Zafar suggests he marry her to Faraz as he is an extremely obedient, educated, and noble boy. Anum boils with anger upon finding out her father’s plans. On the other hand, Faraz swells with joy when Zafar tells him about the development. He decides to contact Anum to know her consent. Anum agrees to marry him on the condition that he will allow her to continue her studies. Soon enough, Faraz’s mother arrives in Karachi from her village to meet Anum. However, she does not like Anum’s rude behavior and gets impressed by Maham’s personality. Shagufta gets worried when her business starts declining. She holds her mother-in-law responsible for the loss as she keeps cursing and taunting her for running an illegitimate business. 

Episode 7

Air Date: 15-Oct-2022

Faraz gets puzzled when his mother prefers Maham over Anum. Anum’s grandmother berates her for speaking disrespectfully in front of Faraz’s mother, warning her to control herself before things get out of control. Soon, Faraz’s mother relents when she finds out that Faraz likes Anum, and she agrees to marry him to her. Anum rages when her soon-to-be mother-in-law gifts her an inexpensive engagement ring and refuses to take any dowry. She creates a fuss in the house, demanding to be given a full-fledged dowry. Faraz and Anum develop a friendly bond and plan a happy future together. Anum comes across a dowry package on an installment basis and persuades her mother to avail of it. Shakir initially hesitates to pay interest on the loan but Rahat convinces him in its favor. Shagufta sees nightmares of the murder she committed to acquire wealth from her close friend.

Episode 8

Air Date: 22-Oct-2022

Shagufta unknowingly goes to a corrupt sorcerer in hopes to get rid of the nightmares. The sorcerer demands a heavy amount of cash in exchange for helping her. Maham gets a job in school as a teacher to help her father financially. Within a month, she applies for a loan but her request gets rejected. Her colleague Hammad, who likes her, finds out about her rejected request and tries to help Maham indirectly to avoid hurting her ego. Shagufta and Naveed burn with jealousy upon finding out that Anum is getting married. Furious, Naveed tries to pick a fight with Faraz to back him off from the wedding but ends up getting beaten. Faraz goes beyond his capacity to buy a wedding dress for Anum and decorate the room in her honor. However, Anum does not like anything, and on the wedding night, she points out errors in everything.
